The Art of Being Cool

The first thing that we should be comprehend is that there is no surefire way to attain coolness. And this is especially true living in this era. Being a geek can mean a world of a difference now in our internet-mad society than say, a decade ago. The entire definition of the world is transformed as we live and breathe when guys like Pete Wentz who looks like the Overload of all beings who are wimps get to shag and marry Ashlee Simpson. Or when Harry Porter is deemed sexy, albeit to mostly prepubescent kids. Heck, Lord of The Rings comprised of main leads who look like they would rather form a chess club than an army!
These are strange times we're living in and it's about to get stranger still.
Gone are the days when simply looking and acting cool gets you the girls/guys and green-eyed envy from lesser blessed mortals. Our previously narrowed perceptions of coolness has evolved into something more basic and easy to understand. What matters in the end after all the other image-heavy ideals is that talent and originality will persevere.

Quentin Tarantino, Woody Allen, Stephen Chow, Kurt Cobain, Yasmin Ahmad, Jamie Foxx, Dexter, Pedro Almodovar, P. Ramli, Radiohead, The Simpsons and Cameron Diaz have all played their parts in redifining what it means to be the 'IN' crowd. Even a basic idea like being environmentally conscious can now seem cool.

So, shed off all your preconceived ideas and just be who you really are. Remember, the most attractive trait to have in the world is being natural and having the ability to make others happy to have you in their lives through your work or simply by your very presence. That means much more than having a Ferrari, knowing how to blow smoke rings or having a toned body. Don't you agree?
